ISLA MAE

  • I'm a teenage singer-songwriter from South Cambridgeshire. I love to tell stories through my music, both real and made up, usually to release my emotions and anxieties. My style is varied and can range from folk or acoustic to Pop Indie – I write what I write and it is what it is. I’m told that my songs are relatable and I’ve recently been likened to Lily Allen, Lucy Spraggan, Katie Tunstall and Phoebe Bridgers. My lyrics are frequently described as mature beyond my years and have led to me winning the Cambridgeshire Rhapsody Songwriting Project 2021, Cambridge Band Competition Best Acoustic Act for the last two years, Cambridge 105 Radio "One To Watch" 2022, Ely Folk Festival Club Tent competition 2023 and Essex Underground Radio Secret Society Top Lyricism Award 2023. Last year, I was also named a UK/Ireland age 16 - 18 Top 10 Finalist in Song Academy's Young Songwriter Competition, a double semi-finalist in the U18 category of the UK Songwriting Contest and a nominee in the 18 and under category of the New Music Generator Awards. My debut EP "Dancing under a Pseudonym" was released on streaming services in May 2023.
